Immigration.ca
From 14 booked consultations a year to 834, at 1/19th the cost per booking.
Results from our Google Ads management.
Immigration.ca is Colin Singer’s Canadian immigration law practice, online since 1994. The firm sells paid consultations that become immigration cases, and its Google Ads account was barely booking any.
The Challenge
When they came to us in August 2025, the contract goal was written by Colin himself: 12 to 15 paid consultations per week. They were getting 5 to 8. The account looked busy on paper, counting tens of thousands of cheap form-fill “conversions” a year on Performance Max traffic. But the traffic came from countries that produce no clients for a Canadian law firm, the clicks cost pennies because they were worth pennies, and nobody could say which booking came from which ad. In twelve months, Google Ads produced 14 tracked consultation bookings on $43,000 of spend. The team had been through several agencies and a freelancer before us.
The Solution
- Paused the legacy campaigns in week one and rebuilt the account as search-only: one ad group per service line, a branded campaign to protect their own name, and geotargeting cut from the whole world to the countries where their clients actually live
- Rebuilt conversion tracking around what matters (booked consultations) with real form-fill actions as mid-funnel signals
- Passed campaign data through their forms so every booking traced back to its source, and helped turn their lead spreadsheet into a working CRM
- Moved at the speed of the news: when Bill C-3 opened Canadian citizenship by descent to a wave of Americans, we had a dedicated campaign live while the story was still breaking. It became the largest engine in the account
- Held our auction positions when demand spiked instead of chasing volume, forcing competitors to pay top dollar to enter an auction we already occupied
- Managed capacity, not just clicks: when the consultation calendar filled, we shifted the campaign goal to lead capture, banking more than 21,000 lead submissions for the firm’s future
The Results
By week four, cost per conversion was down 53% and consultation revenue already covered the ad spend. Colin renewed on day 27, unprompted. Through winter and spring, ads-attributed bookings climbed from 8 a month to 163 a month at the peak, and by July 2026 consultations were sold out through the end of August with a waitlist of roughly 300 people. When September slots opened, 10 sold in the first 24 hours. Instead of coasting, the firm is now adding budget: state-by-state US campaigns and a worldwide expansion.
- 834 consultations booked from Google Ads in year one, up from 14 the year before
- Cost per booked consultation fell from ~$3,099 to ~$165, 1/19th the cost
- Search impression share tripled while account CTR climbed from 7.2% to 15.4%
- “We are currently booking 20-25 appointments per day”—the firm’s marketing lead, May 2026, across all channels with ads as a core driver
The Numbers
834↑ from 14 the year before
Consultations booked from Google Ads, by month. The dashed line is the entire year before we took over: 14 bookings, about one per month.
